About Us
Nūl is a Sri Lankan-based collective dedicated to fostering connected, resilient, and sustainable communities. The name “Nūl” (Tamil: நூல் / Sinhala: නූල්) means “thread,” reflecting the organization’s commitment to weaving relationships, ideas, and opportunities that empower communities. Through collaboration, dialogue, and community-led initiatives, Nūl works to address historical inequalities and systemic disparities, creating environments where all people can thrive and contribute to a harmonious, inclusive society.
Our Mission & Values
Nūl’s mission is to build connected and sustainable communities by generating educational, economic, and social opportunities. By prioritizing inclusive collaboration and long-term transformation, the organization supports marginalized communities to strengthen their foundations and create vibrant, thriving futures. Nūl values equity, education, social justice, and cultural inclusion, aiming to break cycles of inequality while fostering sustainable development rooted in local leadership and shared humanity.
Our Key Initiatives
Nūl’s initiatives center around creating lasting social impact through community engagement, education, and sustainable development. A flagship program is the Nūl Peace Ride, a 22-day, 1,000 km cycling journey across Sri Lanka, combining 12 days of cycling with 10 days of community engagement. Participants collaborate with diverse communities, building intercultural dialogue, supporting local leadership, and promoting equity. Other programs focus on establishing international volunteer networks to raise awareness, fundraise, recruit participants, and create global partnerships that amplify Nūl’s mission.
