About us
Clown Compass is Sri Lanka’s first-ever clown company, a unique social enterprise and grassroots initiative that brings the art of clowning and physical theatre to communities across the island. The organization is driven by the belief that laughter, creativity, and play are powerful tools for learning and human connection. With experience rooted both locally and internationally, Clown Compass aims to inspire audiences of all ages and to ignite imaginations through workshops, performances, and interactive experiences.
At the center of their work is the Clown Camp, a series of workshops for children and young people aged six to eighteen. Unlike conventional models where children must travel to attend programs, Clown Compass sends Teaching Clown Artists directly into communities. Activities are designed around the interests and surroundings of the participants, ensuring that learning is playful, stress-free, and relevant to their daily lives. From playing with mud and water outdoors to exploring physical theatre, the camps allow children to discover joy, creativity, and problem-solving in new and meaningful ways.
Our Mission & Values
Our vision, “Embracing Mistakes and Spreading Joy!”, comes from a belief that life, like clowning, doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. Mistakes, slip‑ups, awkward stumbles, they’re part of what makes us human. In clowning, they’re not just accepted: they’re celebrated. Through laughter, vulnerability, and spontaneity, we remind participants that it’s okay to be imperfect and that in that imperfection lies authenticity, learning, and compassion.
Our mission, “Unleash the Laughter Storm!”, is about more than fun. It’s about unleashing potential, encouraging creativity, building resilience, and forging connections. Whether through workshops for children & young artists, school‑based projects, community performances, or therapeutic and wellness programs, Clown Compass aims to bring healing, joy, and transformation to individuals and communities. We strive to make learning playful, inclusive, and emotionally enriching
The Clown Camps
The Clown Camps are short-term (1–3 weeks) and run across Sri Lanka. They foster life skills, community building, and joyful education while also offering therapeutic benefits and training for educators and parents. Through these workshops, children learn to embrace creativity, face challenges playfully, and cultivate a mindset for lifelong learning.
Clown Camps Impact
SDG 4: Quality Education: Through inclusive and creative learning experiences, the program directly contributes to offering young people a supportive space to grow and explore.
SDG 5 Gender Equality & SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities : By ensuring equal access and opportunities for all participants, it reinforces gender Equality and reduced Inequalities, welcoming children and young artists from diverse backgrounds.
SDG 13: Climate Action: Clown Camp also integrates eco-friendly practices and small moments of environmental awareness, aligning with SDG 13: Climate Action and encouraging participants to learn with care for the planet.

Current Project and Programms
Clown Compass brings the magic of clowning and physical theatre to children, young artists, and communities across Sri Lanka. Through its varied projects, from local clown camps to theatrical performances and creative workshops, the organization spreads joy, creativity, and confidence in playful, inclusive ways.
Our Current Highlights:
CC Anuradhapura & other Clown Camps
These workshops are tailored to children and young artists aged 6–18. Rather than requiring participants to travel, Clown Compass sends “Teaching Clown Artists” directly to communities, even in remote or rural areas, to deliver learning experiences that feel natural, accessible, and fun. Activities are customized to the needs and surroundings of each group; sessions can be outdoors and incorporate playful, creative, and therapeutic approaches. The focus is on “joyful education”: embracing mistakes, encouraging play, building community, and fostering a love for lifelong learning.
Workshops & Community Outreach
Beyond camps, Clown Compass offers a variety of workshops, including school‑based, community‑oriented, and wellness‑focused sessions, aiming to make art, play and emotional well‑being available to diverse audiences.
Performances & Shows
The organization stages playful, inclusive shows, in multiple languages (Sinhala, Tamil, English) for children, families, and broader communities. This brings laughter, cultural storytelling, and artistic expression to audiences across different backgrounds.
